Introduction
The Qihou Lighthouse, located on Qihou Mountain, has been standing for over 120 years. It was originally built in the 9th year of the Guangxu Emperor of the Qing Dynasty (1883), and underwent several expansions and renovations during the opening of Dagou Port and the Japanese colonial period. The current scale of the lighthouse was completed in 1918. In 1985, the lighthouse was designated as a third-level heritage site and opened to the public. In 2005, it was re-designated as a municipal heritage site by the Kaohsiung City Government. The Qihou Lighthouse has a unique geographical location, offering panoramic views of the entire Kaohsiung Harbor. It is a white, octagonal Baroque-style brick building, and its flashing light has left an indelible memory in the hearts of many people.
