Introduction
The Sai Van Bridge is the third bridge connecting the Macau Peninsula and Taipa Island. Construction began on October 8, 2002, and the main bridge was completed on June 28, 2004. The bridge is designed in a harp-shaped cable-stayed style, with a span of 180 meters between the two main towers. It has a total length of 2,200 meters, with the upper deck consisting of two-way 6-lane traffic and the lower deck consisting of a box structure with two-way 4-lane traffic. The bridge can withstand up to typhoon level 8 and has reserved space for future light rail tracks. The total cost of the design and construction of the Sai Van Bridge was 560 million Macau Patacas.
