Introduction

Ruins of St. Paul's is a famous Gothic architecture in Macau, which is the remains of the front wall of the Church of St. Paul. It symbolizes the unique history and cultural heritage of Macau and is one of the must-visit attractions, similar to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The church suffered great damage in two fires and was rebuilt in 1602. Unfortunately, in 1835, a massive fire ravaged Macau and destroyed the entire church, leaving only the facade, some foundations, and stone steps. Due to its resemblance to traditional Chinese archways, it is called the Ruins of St. Paul's. It is not only a symbol of Macau's history but also an important part of world cultural heritage. On the right side of the Ruins of St. Paul's, there is a small Chinese-style building called Na Tcha Temple, dedicated to the deity Nezha, which is also part of Macau's historic city center. During the day, tourists often gather on the stone steps in front of the Ruins of St. Paul's to take photos and visit. It may feel crowded at first, but after a few visits, you will get used to the flow of people, just like the Spanish Steps in Rome.
