Introduction

The Cham Sculpture Museum, located in the city center near the Han River, was built in 1915 by the French School of the Far East. As one of the largest museums of Cham stone sculpture art in the world, the museum has an elegant and classical exterior. Inside, it exhibits about 300 original sandstone or terracotta sculptures and buildings from the 7th to 16th century. These exhibits are displayed in ten different exhibition rooms. The Chams once established a powerful kingdom in central Vietnam, but gradually declined and migrated to two provinces in the southern part of the country. Now, the Cham people, with a population of only around 50,000, are one of Vietnam's ethnic minorities. The Cham Sculpture Museum collects Cham cultural artifacts from all over the country and has become a gem of Da Nang city. The museum has been expanded twice and attracts a large number of visitors.
