Notre Dame Cathedral, A Century-Old Red Brick Gothic Marvel
Commune of Paris, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1
4.2
Introduction
Built between 1877 and 1883, Notre-Dame Cathedral is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City and is located in the city center. It is an iconic building of the city. This Gothic-style cathedral has two bell towers reaching a height of 40 meters, designed in the style of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. All materials used in its construction are from France, with the bricks for the exterior walls coming from Marseille. Despite experiencing more than a hundred years of wind and rain, the red bricks of this cathedral still remain vibrant, earning it the nickname "the Red Cathedral." In front of the cathedral stands a statue of the Virgin Mary, a gift from the Roman Catholic Church in 1945. Address Commune of Paris, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1
