Introduction

This castle was built during the Ottoman Turkish period as part of the city's defense system, strengthening the defense of the northern walls. In the 20th century, it was used as a prison and implemented hanging punishment. During the British rule, active members of the Jewish Zionist movement were detained here. There is a monument nearby to commemorate the famous jailbreak by Irgun in May 1947.
