Introduction

The baptism site of Jesus Christ is located between the Abdullah Bridge on the Jordan River and the Allenby Bridge (the border bridge between Israel and Jordan), about 8 kilometers from the oasis of Jericho in the desert. According to traditional legends, Jesus was baptized here. The area near this holy site has many eucalyptus trees, and the river is narrow and shallow. On the bank, there is a wooden sign that says "The Site of the Baptism of Jesus Christ" in English and Hebrew. There are also steps and metal railings for believers to recite the Bible. Due to the experience of Jesus being baptized here, it has become a holy site that his followers long for. The baptism site of Jesus on the Jordan River attracts people from all over the world to come and receive baptism, and many people consider it a rare honor in their lifetime. It is said that when members of the British royal family receive baptism, the royal family sends a special plane to fetch some water from the Jordan River here, and then bring it back to distant Britain as the baptismal water for royal family members. Every day, people from different countries, ethnicities, and skin colors receive baptism at this holy site, and it is estimated that the annual number of visitors exceeds 500,000.
