Introduction

The 'Tower of David', located near the Jaffa Gate of the ancient castle and the Old City of Jerusalem, was named by Byzantine Christians as the site of the Palace of David. It is said that this fortress was built in the 2nd century BC to strengthen the strategic weak points of the Old City of Jerusalem. It has undergone multiple destructions and reconstructions. The ancient fortress encompasses important archaeological sites, with a history that dates back over 2700 years.
