Introduction

Garden of Gethsemane is the place where Jesus prayed before his arrest, located in Jerusalem, Israel. The current church was built between 1919 and 1924 in Byzantine style and is named "Church of Agony" due to contributions from multiple nations. It stands on the site of two earlier churches, a 12th-century Crusader church (abandoned in 1345) and a 4th-century Byzantine church (destroyed in an earthquake in 746).
