Introduction

Temple Mount is the most sacred place in Judaism. The first temple was built in 967 BC, and the second temple was completed in 515 BC but was destroyed in 70 AD. The holiest part of the temple is the "Holy of Holies," where the Ark of the Covenant was believed to be located until it went missing. Due to the unknown exact location of the Holy of Holies, Jews are prohibited from ascending Temple Mount to avoid trespassing. Inside the Dome of the Rock on Temple Mount is the Foundation Stone, which is believed by some to be where God created Adam. Additionally, Muslims believe that the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Temple Mount is where the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven and that the Well of Souls awaits the judgment day. However, Temple Mount is one of the causes of the Israel-Palestine conflict, with both Israel and Palestine claiming sovereignty over the area.
