Introduction
The National Museum of Iran, also known as the Museum of Ancient Iran, is named Moze-ye Meli in Persian. As one of the top museums in the world, it displays the essence of Persian civilization for over 4000 years, with some artifacts dating back to 35,000 years ago. The museum is divided into two exhibition areas, with the pre-Islamic artifacts being the most spectacular, including ceramics, copperware, ironware, and architectural decorations from the Medes, Achaemenid, Seleucid, Parthian, and Sassanian periods from across the country. Notable exhibits include the solid gold horn-shaped goblet of Darius I, the Parthian Warrior statue, and the Bull Capital from Persepolis.
Additionally, the museum also houses a well-preserved human remains dating back to 1600 years ago, known as the "Salt Man," which was discovered buried in a salt mine. The Islamic exhibition hall of the museum, which showcases textiles, ceramics, and paintings from the past 1400 years, is currently closed. The entrance area features a distinctive arched design, inspired by the Sasanian style and influenced by the Tachara Palace of the Sasanian dynasty's capital, Ctesiphon.
Finally, after the visit, visitors can purchase beautifully packaged and finely crafted replicas of sculptures and artifacts at the museum's souvenir shop. According to the author, these are the best replicas of artifacts available in Iran, and they are reasonably priced. Address 30 Tir Ave, Imam Khomeini Ave, Tehran
