Introduction
The English name of Wat Phra Si Sanphet in Thailand has several different spellings, but they are generally similar and are all transliterations. The Chinese transliteration is also different, so it is important to carefully review the guide, remembering the characteristics of the temple. This modern temple does not use the word Wat, built in 1357, named "Wat Vihan Phuphamongkhon". Inside, there is a giant bronze sitting Buddha statue, 17 meters high, which is one of the largest bronze statues in Thailand, housed indoors. Originally outdoors, but during the reign of King Songtham, this statue was relocated and completed casting in the late 15th century. Although the temple was largely destroyed during the invasion by the Burmese in 1767, it was rebuilt in the 1950s by King Rama V. During the restoration process, it was discovered that there were several hundred small Buddhas inside the giant Buddha, which has inspired admiration and reverence among Buddhists. Now, the surface of the statue is gilded. The transportation is convenient, the temple is located on the south side of Wat Phra Si Sanphet within Ayutthaya Island, and it takes only 3 minutes to walk here. Admission is free, and the opening hours are extended to 17:30 on Saturdays and Sundays. The main hall has undergone several reconstructions and appears clean, featuring statues of the king, various Buddha images, and more.
