Introduction

Konggan City was built in 1829 (1286 AD) by King Menglai of Lanna Kingdom. It was surrounded by a moat and had the Ping River flowing into it. It was once one of the capitals of the Lanna Kingdom, but due to frequent flooding, King Menglai had to relocate the capital to Chiang Mai. Konggan City remained an important strategic location near the border. However, a severe flood destroyed the entire city, and with the change in the course of the river, Konggan City was forgotten and gradually faded into history. Some even consider it to be a legendary city.
