Introduction
Located next to the National Theatre and separated by Phra Pinklao Road, Thailand's main art museum - National Gallery, was established in 1977 on the site of an old mint. It showcases a rich collection of modern and contemporary paintings, modern art, and international art. The current works of the multi-talented and widely interested national king are also kept here. Although photography is prohibited inside the gallery, the spacious halls with high ceilings attract artworks from all over Asia to be exhibited here. The different styled exhibition halls inside the gallery are uniquely arranged, with one striking deep red hall exuding a royal atmosphere, displaying ancient paintings. In addition, the gallery showcases numerous abstract paintings, modern sculptures, photography works, and relief walls. The courtyard also features a variety of sculpture works, including a particularly impressive group of plaster sculptures. Opening hours Open from Wednesday to Sunday, 9:00-16:00. Closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and holidays.
Transportation The National Gallery is located on the diagonal side of the National Theatre, separated by Binhe Road, and is also close to the National Museum.
