Introduction

Republic Square in the center of Belgrade has a bronze statue commemorating the liberation of Serbia from Ottoman rule by Prince Mihailo Obrenović III in 1882. Although it is not large in size, it is still the preferred location for various events and people meeting up in Belgrade. Republic Square is adjacent to the National Museum of Serbia (Narodni Muzej), which has been closed for renovation in recent years.
