His residence, built in 1959, is an iconic example of Thai garden architecture and is suspended over a small canal, consisting of 7 buildings. It houses the famous Jim Thompson Thai Silk Shop and Thai Silk Museum, showcasing numerous Southeast Asian antiques, paintings, and sculptures for a deeper understanding of Thai silk and Thai history. In addition, the residence features a café and a private art gallery that periodically exhibits works by world-renowned avant-garde artists. It also displays various art pieces collected by Jim Thompson, including home decorations and ceramics, covering not only Thailand but the entire Asian region.
