Introduction
The Kurumiya Shrine is located in Atami and it is the main shrine in the Izu and Kurumiya region. It is also the local deity. Inside the shrine stands a thousand-year-old camphor tree, which is worshipped by believers seeking good health, longevity, and recovery from illnesses. This camphor tree, also known as the "Achievement Camphor," is said to grant wishes to those who silently pray and circle around it, earning it the nickname "Tree of Destiny."
