Introduction

The Kamakura Museum of Literature was originally a villa owned by Marquis Maeda Toshiatsu, built in 1890, but it was destroyed in a fire in 1910. The current three-story Western-style building was rebuilt by Marquis Maeda Toshi in 1936. The museum not only has exquisite architecture, but also a beautiful rose garden in front of the entrance, making it very elegant. In the history of modern Japanese literature, over three hundred writers and poets have gathered in Kamakura, making the Kamakura Museum of Literature a worthwhile destination to visit.
