Introduction

Nishinikkito Street in Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan is a street full of history and European-style charm. If you walk up the street from the canal store and post office, you will see a series of representative historical financial buildings, the most notable of which is the original Otaru Branch of the Bank of Japan designed by the modern Japanese architecture master Kingo Tatsuno. This building adopts a brick and stone structure and a loft design with a small dome, while integrating Japanese compactness internally, making it a typical "Tatsuno-style" architectural style and is now the Otaru Financial Data Museum. The museum mainly introduces the financial development history of Otaru City and the development history of the Bank of Japan in Hokkaido, witnessing the rise and fall of "Northern Wall Street". There are many financial institutions on Nishinikkito Street, and two other historically valuable buildings are the former Otaru branch of Mitsui Bank and the former Otaru branch of Hokkaido Colonization Bank.
