Introduction

Japan's Otodori is Japan's first street designed in Western style. It was designed by foreign architect R in the third year of Meiji and officially named in the eighth year of Meiji. The street is home to important buildings such as the Kanagawa Prefectural Government Office, the Yokohama Port Museum, the Yokohama Post Office, the Former Commerce and Industry Award Hall, the Former City Telephone Office, and the Former Kanto Finance Bureau. At the end of the 19th century, the United States and Japan signed the "Treaty of Amity and Commerce," opening the door to Japan's openness, followed by the wave of Meiji Restoration. Therefore, we can say that Yokohama, or Japan's pioneer in modernization, was born on this street in Japan's Otodori.
