Introduction
Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens were established in 1937 and are a comprehensive attraction that includes a botanical garden, zoo, amusement park, and Higashiyama Sky Tower. The zoo is home to around 550 species of animals, including beloved animals like koalas. Additionally, there is a world eel aquarium showcasing eels from around the world, as well as a natural animal museum displaying reptiles and nocturnal animals. The botanical garden features approximately 7,100 species of plants, with Western-style gardens, Japanese gardens, and greenhouses. The symmetrical design of the greenhouse buildings is impressive, with 10 buildings now in total, showcasing plants like cacti over 6 meters long and hibiscus flowers with a diameter of 20 centimeters. The front hall of the greenhouse is praised as a national important cultural property. Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens offer a unique and diverse visitor experience. Transportation Get off at "Dongshan Park" station on the Subway Dongshan Line and walk for 3 minutes, or get off at "Hoshigaoka" station and walk for 7 minutes. (If you are going to the botanical garden, enter the park through the Hoshigaoka gate as it is on the way.)
