Introduction

Yanaka Cemetery, initially known as the Yanaka Graveyard, is a municipal cemetery located in the Yanaka district of Tokyo, Japan. It is a park-like cemetery, also known as "Ryokuen" in Japanese, covering an area of approximately 100,000 square meters with 7,000 graves. Due to the burial of many Japanese celebrities and the cherry blossom avenue that blooms in April, Yanaka Cemetery has become a popular tourist destination. Some of the famous people buried in Yanaka Cemetery include the 15th Shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate, Tokugawa Yoshinobu, former Japanese Prime Minister Ichiro Hatoyama, and Father of Japanese Botany, Tomitaro Makino.
