Introduction
The Imperial Gift Garden in Old Shiba is one of the preserved daimyo gardens in Tokyo, which used to be the private estate of the Tokugawa family. The garden features a typical Japanese-style landscape design with a circuit-style pond, influenced by the architecture of West Lake in Hangzhou. It has a long stone embankment and a central island in the pond, symbolizing the eternal and mythical land of Penglai. Every May, the wisteria in the garden blooms beautifully, creating a breathtaking scene.
The Hamarikyu Gardens, on the other hand, were the former residence of the shogun during the Edo period. The most distinctive feature of the garden is its 9,000 square meter seawater pond, which creates different tidal fluctuations and provides a typical Japanese garden scenery. In the center of the pond is a small island with a tea house, and the tranquil and romantic beauty of the garden is reflected in the water's edge. Address 1 Chome, Chuo City, Tokyo
