Introduction

Kagurazaka Food Street is one of the "six flower streets" with a long history in Tokyo, famous throughout Edo. Even now, these ancient alleys still exude the atmosphere of geisha walking through the blue stone slabs with wooden clogs. At that time, there were many ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurants) here, and the food street was named after them. Along the winding alleys, you can see cafes and small bars with residential-style architecture. It is as if time has turned back, and you are back in the geisha era. The vermilion gate of the Konjikido (Golden Pheasant Temple) in Kandasudacho is one of the landmarks of Kagurazaka. The cosmetics produced by the Kinpaku Honpo, established in 1899, are popular among women in Tokyo, and passersby should not miss them. Kagurazaka implements a rare "reversible one-way street" system in Japan, which means that in the morning, motor vehicles can only travel from Waseda to Idabashi, while in the afternoon, it is reversed.
