Introduction

Phnom Penh, which means "Penh's Hill," is named after a woman named Penh who discovered a Buddha statue hidden inside a piece of wood near the Mekong River in the late 14th century. In honor of her, a temple was built on the small hill, and the area became known as Phnom Penh. The hill is home to a white tower and a temple, with the tower reaching a height of 27 meters. These structures still stand today and have become iconic landmarks of Phnom Penh.
