Introduction
Bakeng Mountain, located about 1.5 kilometers northwest of Angkor Wat, is approximately 70 meters high and is one of the elevated points in the area. On top of Bakeng Mountain stands Bakeng Temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Built in the 9th century, it is a cultural heritage site within the Angkor archaeological complex in Cambodia. King Yasovarman I of the Khmer Empire personally oversaw the construction of this temple after establishing the capital at Angkor. The temple is characterized by a five-tiered pyramid-like platform with towers on each level. The steep steps of Bakeng Mountain offer a panoramic view of Angkor Wat. Additionally, Bakeng Mountain is popular for watching sunsets, but safety precautions should be taken. Address Phnom Bakheng, Siem Reap, Cambodia
