Introduction

Manila's city center has a square, similar to Beijing's Tiananmen Square, built to commemorate the Filipino national hero, Rizal. The square is well landscaped and beautiful, shining like a gem in Manila's less-than-clean cityscape. The square is also a favorite among local residents, and many Filipino families come here to relax during holidays. Inside the square, there are sculptures and monuments themed around Rizal, as well as attractions such as the National Museum, reliefs, Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, and many spectacular music fountains. In addition, soldiers perform on the square, showcasing acrobatics and other skills, attracting the attention of many tourists.
