Introduction

This scenic area is known as the birthplace of Chinese landscape painting and is the only national-level scenic area with a theme of pastoral landscapes. Its beautiful scenery of water, rocks, waterfalls, villages, beaches, and forests has made it a renowned attraction both at home and abroad, with seven scenic areas and over 800 sites. Here, visitors can see cultural relics from the Neolithic Age, ancient pagodas, bridges, pavilions, archways, and historical battlefields from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. There are also ancient villages and complete genealogies of hundreds of family names, all built with inspiration from the concept of "the seven stars and eight buckets," "the four treasures of the scholar's study," and feng shui principles.
