Introduction

The Moon-Viewing Pavilion is an important attraction located in the Fuzimiao cultural area of Xuanwu district, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. According to legend, the name "Moon-Viewing Pavilion" comes from a poem by Tang Dynasty poet Li Shangyin, which describes the beauty of the moon from the tower. The building is an ancient and elegant structure dating back to the Ming dynasty, originally built as the private residence of politician Wang Zhi. In the Qing dynasty, it was transformed into a library, but was later damaged in the Sino-Japanese War. In the 1950s, it was restored and became part of the Fuzimiao cultural area. The pavilion sits on the lake and is decorated with carvings of flowers, birds, and landscapes. The space inside the pavilion is open, allowing visitors to enjoy the view of the lake and surroundings. At night, the pavilion is illuminated, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. The Moon-Viewing Pavilion is a shining gem among the many famous attractions in the Fuzimiao cultural area, such as the Fuzimiao Temple, Xiaozhuang, and Qinhua Garden. Visitors to the pavilion can experience the history and culture of Nanjing, and perhaps find a sense of peace and beauty from this foreign land.
