Transportation
Route to Changbai Mountain:
Plane: Taking a plane directly to Changbai Mountain Airport is the fastest way. The airport is located in the southeast of Songjianghe Town, not far from the West Slope Scenic Area.
Train: There is a train leaving from Changchun to Songjianghe Town (about 13 hours) and Erdaobaihe Town (also known as "Baihe Station", about 15 hours) every day at 2:30 pm. There are three trains leaving from Shenyang to Songjianghe Town (about 12 hours) and Erdaobaihe Town (also known as "Baihe Station", about 14 hours) every day.
Bus: There are buses leaving from Long-distance Coach Center on Huanghe Road in Changchun to Erdaobaihe Town (about 5.5 hours' drive) every day, and buses leaving from the highway passenger station south of the satellite square to Songjianghe Town (about 4.5 hours' drive) every day. However, both of them have very few schedules, usually one bus departs at 8 am every day. There is a bus from Yanji South Passenger Station every day, which goes directly to Changbai Mountain Tianchi North Slope Scenic Area for a one-day tour. The bus departs at 5:30 am, and the one-way ticket price is about 55 yuan, with a journey of about 4 hours.
Charter: There are taxis in Songjianghe Town and Erdaobaihe Town. It usually costs 10 yuan to take a taxi from the town to the train station. You can also hire a taxi to go to the scenic spot, and the price can be negotiated, but not on the meter. From Songjianghe to West Slope Scenic Area, the cost is about 140-150 yuan per car, which takes more than half an hour journey.
Route to Changbai Mountain West Slope Tianchi:
Taking the eco-car inside the scenic spot (85 yuan/person), there is a bus every 20 minutes. After getting off at West Slope, you need to climb 1442 steps to reach the viewing platform. (Tip: To watch Tianchi from the hill, you need to take the scenic transportation, but in winter, vehicle operation may be suspended due to bad weather.)
