Introduction
The scenic area is formed by the intersection of two "Y"-shaped ancient rivers and two ancient streets along the river, gathering rich historical relics and cultural landscapes. The most famous one is one of the "Jiangnan Ink Paintings" - "Jiangnan Water Lane", known as the "Essence of Ancient Canal". The paddle sounds, lantern shadows, ancient bridges, and residential buildings along the coast form a natural "Folk Customs and Scenic Water Gallery" of the ancient canal.
Qingming Bridge is an ancient bridge with a long history, built in the late 16th century during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It was funded and built by the two sons of Qin Yao, the owner of "Jichang Garden" in Wuxi. As the first characters of their names are Taiqing and Taining, respectively, they were named "Qingning Bridge". This stone bridge was rebuilt by Wuxingzuo, the county magistrate of Wuxi County, in the eighth year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1666 AD). In the Daoguang period, it was renamed "Qingming Bridge" because of the taboo of Emperor Daoguang's name Minning. It was also called "Qingming Bridge" by some people.
