Introduction

Located about 16.5 kilometers southeast of the county government of Cangxian, there is a building called the Cangzhou Iron Lion. It is situated about 0.5 kilometers west of Dongguan Village. This giant iron lion is 5.78 meters high, 5.34 meters long, 3.17 meters wide and weighs about 50 tons. According to legend, it carries a large basin and is the lotus seat of Manjusri Bodhisattva. The iron lion faces south, with its head facing southwest and its left feet in front and right feet in the back, presenting a majestic and imposing posture. This vivid iron lion is one of the large-scale works of cast iron craftsmanship in China, and is also one of the famous historical and cultural relics. It has existed for more than a thousand years, fully demonstrating the wisdom and artistic attainments of the ancient Chinese working people.
