Introduction
Shantou Old Street is an important landmark of Shantou's architecture and a must-visit place for overseas Chinese to trace their roots. The buildings here are mostly Western-style arcade architecture and are home to numerous buildings built in the early 20th century, with styles ranging from antique Roman, Gothic, Baroque, and more. Here, visitors can admire the sheltered arcades, packed old-time shops, and somewhat chaotic streets, all showcasing the unique historical charm of Shantou's old town. This area was once the most prosperous commercial center in Shantou, where one can still see historical buildings such as the Shantou Post Office and the Lao Ma Palace in their original forms while strolling through.
