Introduction
Dongfang Mountain, known as the "Number One Mountain in the Three Chu regions", is located in the lower area of Huangshi and covers an area of approximately 18 square kilometers. It consists of three main peaks: Manqian Ridge, Lansheng Ridge, and Zoumazhai Peak. It is said that in around 100 BC, the chief minister of Wu, Dongfang Shuo, came here to live and the mountain was named after his surname. The scenery here is beautiful, the climate is pleasant, and the vegetation is lush, with more than 2,000 species of herbaceous plants. The attractions of Ginkgo trees, ancient eight scenic spots, and reservoirs are unique, and the Honghua Temple has a profound Buddhist cultural heritage, passed down to 73 generations. Dongfang Mountain was once the camp of the Eastern Wu capital guard, and in modern times it has become a popular destination for Buddhist culture and scenery tourism, rated as a national AA-level tourist scenic spot. Many temple fairs and large-scale Buddhist events are also held here, attracting numerous visitors and pilgrims from both at home and abroad.
