Introduction

Chen Cihong's former residence, also known as the Chen Shangli family mansion, is one of the rare overseas Chinese residences in China and is known as the "Number One Overseas Chinese Mansion in Lingnan, China." It was built during the Qing Dynasty and took nearly half a century to complete. The former residence has multiple buildings such as Langzhongdi and Shoukangli, with a total of 506 halls. The most representative one is the "Shanju Room," which is one of the largest, most finely designed, and best-preserved mansions. Chen Cihong's former residence is located in Qianmei Village, Longdu Town, Chenghai District, Shantou City. Its architectural style is a blend of Chinese and Western styles, incorporating traditional "horse-drawn carriages" and Western-style buildings, while adorned with pavilions, towers, and corridors to create a twisting and turning form. The building is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province and was designated as one of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Shantou" in 2005.
