Introduction

In Pingtan Island, Fujian Province, on the northwest sea of Kanao Village, there is a famous natural landscape called Shipaoyang, also known as "Half-Ocean Stone Sail" and "Double-Sail Stone". This is a pair of the largest granite sea-eroded columns in the country, the columns are mainly controlled by two sets of vertical joints and a set of arc-shaped horizontal joints. In the geological history of hundreds of years, Shipaoyang has undergone strong globe-columnar sea erosion and weathering. After layers of weathering shells peeled off, the two stone pillars are now fresh core parts peeled off by weathering. On the opposite beach of Kanao, there are up to 60 stunning ball-shaped sea-eroded stone landscapes, such as the frog looking up, Maitreya Buddha, and double-turtle arched bridge. These stone landscapes deeply analyze the movement of the magma layer wrapped in the past and have high value for viewing and scientific investigation. In history, it is recorded that the last emperor of the Song Dynasty, Zhao Gang, stayed here and left a historical trace.
