Introduction

Located in Gulin County, Huangjing Forest Scenic Area is a well-preserved subtropical primitive evergreen broadleaf forest area on the 28th parallel north and a typical Danxia landform area of the Chishui River basin's Cretaceous red sandstone mountains. The scenic area covers an area of 433 square kilometers, with an average altitude of over 1300 meters. According to historical records, in the forty-first year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1776 AD), the provinces of Sichuan and Guizhou designated an area of several hundred square kilometers as "official mountains", prohibiting cultivation and logging. After more than two hundred years, the original state has been preserved, and the scenic area is named "Huangjing Forest" accordingly.
