Introduction

Xingkai Lake is a eutrophic lake with a well-functioning ecosystem, primarily affected by paper mill wastewater. There are a total of 65 fish species in the lake, belonging to 6 orders and 12 families, with the most famous being the Dabai fish and white shrimp. Dabai fish is a specialty of Xingkai Lake and is listed as one of China's four famous freshwater fish. In addition, there are also crustaceans such as carp, crucian carp, abalone, and lake shrimp in the lake. Xingkai Lake is one of the important aquatic breeding bases in Heilongjiang Province.
Xingkai Lake is one of the major migratory bird passages in Northeast Asia. Large numbers of migratory birds stop here in April each year, with a total of 190 bird species, including five national first-class protected bird species: red-crowned crane, Oriental white stork, white-tailed eagle, golden eagle, and Steller's sea eagle. The Xingkai Lake Nature Reserve is dedicated to the protection of rare birds.
Xingkai Lake is located in the eastern part of Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province, 35 kilometers away from Mishan City. The lake is a boundary lake between China and Russia, with one-third of the northern area belonging to China and the southern to Russia. Xingkai Lake covers an area of 4,380 square kilometers, with a shoreline length of 90 kilometers and a maximum depth of 10 meters. There are nine rivers flowing into the lake, with water flowing out from the northeast and eventually flowing into the Ussuri River.
