Introduction

Yin Yu Island is located in the northern part of the Yongle Islands in the South China Sea, about 1 nautical mile northeast of Yagong Island and about 4.5 nautical miles southwest of Quanfu Island. The island has an area of about 0.01 square kilometers and a height of only over 2 meters. On the reef, there is a deep pit with blue-black water, which is called "Dragon Pit" by the locals. The water temperature is relatively low. In 1935, the island was named "Observation Beach". In 1947, it was renamed "Senping Beach". It wasn't until 1983 that "Yin Yu" was officially announced as the name of the island.
