Introduction

In Chinese history, the three dynasties of Yuan, Ming, and Qing all held ceremonies to worship Confucius at the Confucius Temple in Beijing. The temple was built in 1302 and took 8 years to complete. It consists of three courtyards arranged along the central axis, including the Dacheng Gate, Dacheng Hall, Chongsheng Gate, and Chongsheng Temple. There are 198 tablets inscribed with the names of successful candidates in the imperial examinations from the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, which are important historical materials for understanding the ancient Chinese imperial examination system. Since 1928, the Confucius Temple has been open to visitors.
