Introduction
Located in the north of Wenzhou city, Jiangxin Island lies horizontally in the middle reaches of the Oujiang River. Due to its beautiful scenery, it is renowned as one of the four famous islands in China. Poet Xie Lingyun once visited Jiangxin Island and left behind the classic poem verse "Clouds and sunlight reflected, clear water together". Many other famous poets such as Meng Haoran, Li Bai, and Du Fu also wrote poems about Jiangxin Island, making it an island of Chinese poetry.
In the fourth year of the Jianyan reign of the Southern Song Dynasty, Emperor Song Gaozong stayed in the Pujie Temple on Jiangxin Island for 16 days. Later, the Qing Master presided over the Pujie and Jingxin Zen temples, filled in Zhongchuan, established the Zhongchuan Temple, and received the honor of being named "Jiangxin Temple", becoming the "Gaozong Roadway". More than 800 surviving poems have made Jiangxin Island an island of Chinese poetry. In modern times, the eminent monk Hongyi also lived here. Jiangxin Island is renowned as an island of the eastern Buddha.
The buildings on Jiangxin Island tell the story of the Buddhist island, fully demonstrating the character of the isolated and yet lively island. Visitors can visit attractions such as the Wentianxiang Temple, Jiangxin Temple, East/West Pagoda, Haoran Tower, the former site of the British Consulate in Wenzhou, and Xie Gong Pavilion.
