Songshan Anti-Japanese War Relics, A Solemn Tribute to Heroic Sacrifices
5
Introduction
The Battle of Songshan was part of the Yunnan-Burma-India Campaign and one of the largest battles in Southern China. It took place on Songshan Mountain, a strategically important and difficult-to-capture peak often referred to as the "Gibraltar of the East." According to Japanese war records, the Battle of Songshan was known as the "Battle of Jade Shattered" (total annihilation) during World War II in the Asian theater. The mountain top in Dayakou Village retains the preserved battlefield relics such as bunkers, trenches, and shell holes. Other preserved sites include the Ronglongpo and Yingcundan Mountain battlefields, as well as the Japanese power station, pumping station, and comfort station. Monuments, martyrs' cemeteries, hero sculptures, and Huixian Bridge have been built in memory of the fallen soldiers of the Battle of Songshan. Opening hours 09:00-17:00
