Introduction

Zhang Jingjiang's Former Residence was built in the 24th year of Qing Guangxu. Designed by Zhang Jingjiang's father, Zhang Baoshan, it is a typical Jiangnan-style mansion. It adopts a layout of three bays and five rooms, with a hall and five rooms in the first bay. There is a courtyard between each bay, and the height of each bay increases as it goes further in. The second and third halls in the residence house many cultural relics depicting Zhang Jingjiang's life, such as his photographs, letters, and appointment letters. Zhang Jingjiang made significant contributions to the Xinhai Revolution, for which Sun Yat-sen called him the most remarkable person in China and awarded him with a calligraphy piece reading "unyielding and heroic spirit".
