Introduction

The Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics Memorial Hall, located southeast of the Slender West Lake, was transformed from the Xifang Temple where one of the eight eccentrics, Jin Nong, lived in his later years. The "eight eccentrics" refer to some innovative painters in Yangzhou during the Qing Dynasty, actually including more than fifteen people, so the name "eight eccentrics" can be considered as an approximation or a numerical term. The main exhibition hall of the memorial hall is now the Daxiong Baodian, where the murals are mostly remnants from the Ming Dynasty, so be sure to look up and appreciate them. In the center of the hall stands a statue of the Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics, surrounded by some calligraphy and painting works, but most of them are imitations.
