Introduction
One of the main sights in Shouxihu is a tower modeled after Beijing's Beihai White Pagoda, but this tower is slimmer and has some features of Jiangnan. The tower has an octagonal shape at the base and has three niches on each of its four sides, housing statues of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals. The tower is elegant and contrasts interestingly with the nearby Wuting Bridge. According to legend, Emperor Qianlong thought that this tower was similar to the Qiongdao Spring Pavilion in Beihai, Beijing, but without a white pagoda. A salt merchant from Yangzhou bought the blueprints for the Beihai White Pagoda from a Eunuch and used salt bags to construct this tower overnight. The story is still popular among the locals in Yangzhou. Address 405 Yangzijiang North Road, Shouxihu, Hanjiang District, Yangzhou City
