Introduction

The Central Academy of Fine Arts is the only higher art school under the Ministry of Education in China. Its origins can be traced back to 1918 when Mr. Cai Yuanpei founded the National Beijing Art School. Later, the National Beiping Art and Design School and the three art departments of North China University also merged into it. It is worth mentioning that the predecessor of the three art departments of North China University was the Art Department of Yan'an Lu Xun Art School, which was established in 1938. The approval of the Central People's Government established the National Academy of Fine Arts, and Chairman Mao Zedong personally wrote the name of the academy. In January 1950, the academy was renamed the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
