Introduction

Our country's only national-level natural reserve of tropical rainforest is famous for its magical tropical rainforest landscapes and ethnic minority cultures. Here, we witness the largest known Maozhen guo fig tree, the pale hook wind, the hanging king, and even a "living fossil" from the dinosaur era. The Keemoo people who live here have a population of only over 3,000 and are scattered in the counties of Mengla and Jinghong. The water-splashing festival is held annually from April 13th to 15th and attracts a large number of tourists from home and abroad, known as the "Oriental Carnival."

The Mengla Tropical Botanical Garden is located nearby. There are direct buses from Jinghong Passenger Station and Xishuangbanna Passenger Station to the botanical garden. The journey takes about 1 hour and costs around 16 yuan.
