Introduction

The Daying River, located in the northeast of Tengchong County, is the source of the Dieshui River and belongs to the Irrawaddy River system. Along the river, numerous streams converge and the water gradually increases. When the river flows through a section about two kilometers west of Tengchong County, it meets a tall fault cliff. Three steep peaks stand beside the cliff, and water bursts out from the left canyon, falling down from the 46-meter high cliff top into a deep pool and then rushing forward. Here, the river seems to be divided into two bends, so it is commonly known as the "Dieshui River Waterfall." The waterfall rushes down from the top of the cliff, with huge rocks standing upright, varying in shape, some like turtles, some like tortoises. There is a stone bridge across the riverbed dozens of steps away from the water outlet, named Taiji Bridge. There is a diamond-shaped stone pier in the bridge, on which is engraved the words "Established by Zhang Shaosan Wenguang, Governor of Yunnan West and Commander of Dali in September, the 2nd year of the Republic of China.” Below the bridge, the rapids rush and break the green cliffs, forming white water, like a silver galaxy pouring down, with snow-like jets and delicate cotton wool scattered around. The echo of the valley can be heard several hundred steps away. The water vapor rises, and the sunlight shines on the water surface, often seeing colorful and beautiful rainbows, pearl-like waterdrops splashing around like thin rain, experiencing the spectacular scene of the waterfall that never stops all year round. Local people call it the "Dragon Cave Hanging Curtain" and the "Continuous Unstoppable" wonder.
