Introduction
In Japan, the red-crowned crane is a bird that is considered to have a auspicious meaning. They were once on the brink of extinction, but were designated as an endangered species during the Showa period (around the 1940s) and many conservation policies were implemented, gradually increasing their numbers. One of the habitats of wild red-crowned cranes is the Akan International Crane Center, where people can only observe them from a distance without any fences or nets limiting them. Red-crowned cranes can come and go freely, and their graceful gait as if dancing brings about beautiful emotions. In winter, their dance in the snow attracts many photography enthusiasts. However, as they are free to move around, seeing their beautiful movements requires some luck. Address Shimosetsuri, Tsurui, Akan District, Hokkaido Prefecture 085-1211
