Introduction

The St. Martin's Cathedral, located on the western edge of the Old Town in the capital city of Slovakia, Bratislava, was built in 1273. It is one of the largest and best churches in Bratislava and one of the oldest, serving as the coronation church of the Kingdom of Hungary. The church has three beautiful Gothic altars, built in 1499. Currently, it serves as the cathedral of the Bratislava Archdiocese, previously serving as the cathedral of the Bratislava-Trnava Archdiocese from 1995 until February 2008.
